With spring upon us, one of the biggest dates for you diary has to be the prestigious gardening event, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show returning to The Royal Hospital Chelsea from 19th-23rd May 2015. Tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show must be booked in advance and with 157,000 people visiting each year they do sell out fast. Make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.
Best of all, The Beaufort is only a 20 minute walk or a short taxi ride away from The Royal Hospital so you can return to the hotel for your complimentary Cream Tea but hurry as we expect to be fully booked very soon.
Dating back to 1913, the opening of the Chelsea Flower Show is attended by members of the Royal Family and each year attracts horticulturists and amateur gardeners from around the world. With over 500 exhibitors, this year will see show gardens from Sentebale, a charity founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso, Laurent-Perrier and Chatsworth and Wellington College. Fragrance plays a key theme in the L’Occitane garden called ‘A Perfumer’s Garden in Grasse’ while the department store Harrods continues the theme with their first concept garden ‘The Fragrance Garden’.
The Chelsea Flower Show is a great way to find inspiration for your garden whatever its size, the latest trends in gardening and exhibits from florists to nurseries. There will be an array of trade stands and the RHS Discovery Zone in the Great Pavilion showcasing interactive scientific and educational exhibits including ways to use wood in your garden and composting.
If you walk up an appetite you also have the chance to grab yourself a hot drink, glass of Champagne, fish and chips, pizza or even book a table for a three course meal at one of the on-site restaurants. There are even performances from a variety of bands at the bandstand in Ranelagh Gardens.
The floral displays are not just restricted to the show. Walking to and from the Royal Hospital will also give you the opportunity to explore the streets of Chelsea as retailers transform their shop fronts with floral displays for Chelsea in Bloom, this year with the theme ‘Fairytales’.
